PTK was founded in 1918 and is recognized by the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges as the official honor fraternity for two-year colleges. Phi Theta Kappa is the only nationally acclaimed honor fraternity serving American institutions offering associate degree programs.

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa has long been considered by two-year and four-year colleges as a signal honor accorded only to those students of outstanding achievement. 91% of Phi Theta Kappans complete their associate’s degree and/or transfer to a four-year college, while 68% complete a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Phi Theta Kappa serves more than 3.8 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in the United States. The organization is headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, and is guided by the principles of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.
